Here is another message from me in English. I am sorry I didn't wrote more the last months in Ghana. But I hope you enjoyed the pictures.. pictures don't need any translation ;) .
In february I came back from my trip to Ghana. I am still in contact with Yao en Marlieke, the people from the NGO in Ghana.
The school we were building out of the funds I rased in Holland is ready. It took a while but it is finally there. The people from the village, Kokobeng, did a good job. The kids from the village and other small villages can go to a normal school, finally!
Last week I got an mail from Yao. He wrote me about the last things that needed to be done before the school is really finished.
Next week the furniture, tables and chairs will be placed.
The kids have a 4 week Easter-holiday now.
The official opening of the school is on may 15. The people from the village, Kokobeng, take care of the openingceremonie, so let's see...
When I have new pics I place them on my site.
You can look at the pictures from the school in my photoalbum. I added them at the dutch message about the school.
The budget we had is almost finished. Only 150 euros left to buy some posters and other things for the school. But we have some projectmoney from other volunteers who were in Ghana, with the same NGO, before I came. The wanted to spent their projectmoney on the Kokobeng school project. So that is very nice. We can buy study books, toys etc.
In other villages near Kokobeng people heard about the kindergarden we build. So by now there al allready more than 120 kids walking an playing around at the schoolarea. But there is only place for 60 kids in the school.. so let's see how the people will solve this 'problem'.. Let's build another school?.. Okay no jokes.. It is very nice that they want to go to school but unfortunately there is no place for all these kids...
I am very proud at everybody who is involved with this project. Proud of everybody who made this possible. It is nice to look over my shoulder and to see that the project is almost done.. it is something I will never forget!
On april 20 I give a presentation in the church in my village, Callantsoog. About my time in Ghana and the project.
Thanks to everybody who supported me and when I have new pictures or anything else about the school I will add it on my website.
Take care,
;) Jante
On April 2nd I go for a 2 week holiday to Surinam, South-America. Just before highseason starts at the campsite, were I work in Holland. So maybe some stories about my stay in Surinam in a while.
